Name:Drop Ball Tester
Description:Test for lens mechanical strength PER8.1 and APPENDIX E1.3, and E5.2.2 PER BS 2724:1987 'break resistant' and 4.5.2 of the pending European Standard - EN1836 -Enhanced Break Resistance category and ANSI 280.3/1986 BS2724/1987 EN:168/1994 DIN4646 Blat 3 The basic model provides a stable base and a lens holding pillar, with a leveling facility to ensure a clean drop, of a 16grm steel ball, from a height of 1.27 meters. The lens under test is located on the silicon rubber ring defined per E.1.3, and held by a weighted tube fitted with a similar rubber ring. The ball is manually entered by a funneled ring at the top of the spacing tube to impact the lens under test, and after the drop, is retained by a 'collecting well', for re-use for the next drop ball. The 'collecting well' and the silicon rings are accessible for cleaning away any fracture particles, should a lens under test sustain a fracture
